The Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) reflector, also known as the Fiber Bragg Grating filter, is typically installed at the front end of the Optical Network Unit (ONU) in optical networks. It utilizes fiber Bragg gratings to reflect optical fiber line signals at specific wavelengths (1625nm +/- 5nm, +/- 10nm, or 1650nm +/- 5nm, +/- 10nm). By connecting an optical measurement system to the front section of the optical fiber splitter, when the presence of these central wavelengths is detected, it indicates that the optical fiber connection at the user end is normal. If the central wavelength is absent or the reflection value is low, it suggests damage or breakage in the optical fiber at the user end, necessitating maintenance. This enables online and rapid detection of line continuity. Other communication wavelengths, not being inherent reflection wavelengths of the fiber Bragg grating, will pass through normally with low loss, thus having no impact on normal communication.
Product Application:
The FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) reflector is installed at the front end of the ONU (Optical Network Unit) in a PON (Passive Optical Network) optical network, working in conjunction with an OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) to achieve detection and diagnosis of optical links.
product type:
LC/APC Yin-Yang
SC/APC Yin-Yang
The FBG fiber reflector provided by FiberWDM boasts advantages such as low insertion loss, high reflectivity, and easy installation. It is an ideal optical device for network link monitoring and is widely used in fields such as PON networks, OTDR testing, central office testing, FTTX, and more.
