GPON (Gigabit-Capable Passive Optical Network)
GPON offers a downstream transmission rate of 2.5Gbps and an upstream rate of 1.25Gbps, with split ratios ranging from 1:16 to 1:128; by utilizing WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology, it enables the simultaneous transmission of video, data, and voice services over a single optical fiber, and is thus widely applied in scenarios such as home broadband access, enterprise network construction, and smart city development.
XGS-PON (10G Symmetric PON)
XGS-PON supports symmetrical 10Gbps uplink and downlink rates with split ratios ranging from 1:16 to 1:256, and by adopting Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexing (TWDM) technology, it can coexist with GPON on the same fiber, making it suitable for scenarios requiring high-bandwidth symmetrical transmission such as enterprise networks, data center interconnection, and 5G fronthaul.
NG-PON2 (Next-Generation PON2)
NG-PON2 utilizes WDM technology to establish up to eight wavelength-separated PON trees on a single fiber, supporting uplink and downlink rates of up to 10Gbps with split ratios ranging from 1:16 to 1:256; it is compatible with both TWDM-PON and point-to-point WDM-PON, making it suitable for diverse new use cases such as enterprise networks, mobile backhaul and fronthaul, as well as scenarios demanding high bandwidth and flexible wavelength allocation.
